CITI Modules IntroductionAll principal investigators and faculty advisors are required to complete training in research ethics. IRB applicants must complete the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Program training modules on research with human subjects prior to submitting their application.

If work in your program requires more than one ethics application, you only need to complete the CITI modules once. Selected refresher modules are required at three, six and nine year intervals after initial completion. An automated email reminder will be sent when it is time to take the refresher modules.

To set up a new CITI Program account visit the CITI Program site and click “REGISTER”. Then follow the prompts. When registration is complete log in and select the Human Participants Research training for your campus or university program. When all of the required modules are completed a confirmation email will be sent to your campus/program IRB chairperson.
